Place-responsive approaches in outdoor education

In a short seminar, we will try to challenge the traditional emphasis within outdoor education on personal, social and/or character development and seek to understand why some outdoor activities can be nature-based but very little nature-attentive. The frameworks of place-responsive education and landfullness will be presented as examples of how outdoor-based (or nature-based) activities that we provide for young people can be more of a tool of educating for an environmentally sustainable future, and simply why it matters to pay more attention to places where we go and run our programs.
The seminar will be based on short readings beforehand and discussions during the seminar. Space can be made for sharing examples of good practices between the participants.
